Suicide Prevention

The Injury and Violence Prevention Program’s Suicide Systems of Care unit is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis, dial 988 for mental health related crises or 911 for a medical emergency.

At some point, we may experience some form of physical and/or emotional pain in our life. This pain can easily go unnoticed by our friends, colleagues, family, and community as our daily lives and the obligations take up space. Those who are experiencing pain or are feeling overwhelmed may find it difficult to ask for help.

The Injury and Violence Prevention Program’s (IVPP) Suicide Systesm of Care (SSC) unit works to build and strengthen environments in support of individual’s who navigate thoughts of suicide. We work to make suicide as preventable as possible. Community members have a role to play in building connected and supportive environments. Our neighbors, friends, families, and colleagues depend on us. By engaging in the work of strengthening our connections, we can normalize conversations around mental health, reduce harmful stigma surrounding suicide and suicide loss, and create environments that value all.
