Male Victims

Boys can be the victims of sexual violence also and it’s against the law. Sexual violence can and does happen to males.

In Virginia, 1 in 8 men have been sexually assaulted in their lifetime.

(Virginia Department of Health, 2003).

Most of the offenders who exploit young men are male. Most men who abuse boys define their sexual orientation as heterosexual. A male who is sexually coerced or assaulted by another male does not mean the young man is automatically gay. It means he was a victim of sexual assault.
