School Nurses

The Virginia Department of Health collaborates with the Virginia Department of Education to promote the health of school-age children in Virginia. The two departments:

• Develop and update school health guidelines for establishing or enhancing a school health program.
• Develop training and education opportunities for school health personnel.
• Consult and provide technical assistance to school health professionals.
• Provide school health needs assessments to health professionals.
