Fall is nearly here and we're excited about the Immunization Initiatives that we are rolling out to protect against Respiratory Illnesses, including COVID-19, influenza (flu), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Flu Immunizations

From CDC's Flu Website: Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine every season with rare exceptions. Vaccination is particularly important for people who are at higher risk of serious complications from influenza. A full listing of people at Higher Risk of Developing Flu-Related Complications is available. Flu vaccination has important benefits. It can reduce flu illnesses, visits to doctor’s offices, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as make symptoms less severe and reduce flu-related hospitalizations and deaths in people who get vaccinated but still get sick. Trivalent flu vaccines protect against three different influenza viruses.

Covid Immunizations

General Information from CDC

• Everyone ages 6 months and older should get a 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine.
• The COVID-19 vaccine helps protect you from severe disease, hospitalization, and death.
• It is especially important to get your 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine if you are ages 65 and older, are at high risk for severe COVID-19, or have never received a COVID-19 vaccine.
• Vaccine protection decreases over time, so it is important to stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccine.

RSV Immunizations

General Information from CDC:

• Respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms.
• Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious. Infants and older adults are more likely to develop severe RSV and need hospitalization.
• Vaccines are available to protect older adults from severe RSV.
• Vaccines for pregnant people or monoclonal antibody products are available to protect infants and young children from severe RSV.
