Grant Funding

• COVID-19 Vaccination Supplement 4 was established in April 2021 through the support of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
• The purpose of Cycle 4 is to fund strategies that ensure greater equity and access to COVID-19 vaccines by those disproportionately affected by COVID. Maximum funding requests may be up to $95,000 for a one-year period.
• Through data driven strategies, the Prince William Health District (PWHD) has identified populations experiencing the heaviest burden of illness and/or the lowest vaccination rates.
• With these targeted populations in mind, the PWHD has created a Community Engagement Branch, which consists of a team that engages in community outreach and expands community partnerships.
• This collaboration with community partners, especially those with broad reach into, and a demonstrated history with populations identified as those disproportionately affected by COVID, will help to achieve the goal to increase vaccination rates and improve health outcomes in the communities in Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.
• Funding will be provided through a reimbursement model,
• Funding allocations will be made on a rolling basis and in multiple rounds until Cycle 4 funds are exhausted.

• People in racial and ethnic minority groups (Non-Hispanic American Indian, Alaska Native, Non-Hispanic Black, Hispanic)
• People living in communities with high social vulnerability index
• People living in rural communities
• People who are homebound or isolated
• People who are underinsured or uninsured
• People who are immigrants and/or refugees
• People with transportation limitations
• People with disabilities
• People living in congregate settings
• People with diagnoses of certain underlying health conditions that increase risk of severe disease.

• Financial awards may be provided by the PWHD through the Cycle 4 Supplemental funding to community partners with a plan to ensure greater equity and access to COVID-19 vaccine for those disproportionately affected by COVID.
• Community partners will use funding to implement, support, and/or expand vaccination activities. Maximum funding requests may be up to $95,000 for a one-year period.
• Funding will be provided on a rolling basis and in multiple rounds until Cycle 4 funds are exhausted.
• Activities should focus on vaccine education, awareness, and uptake in populations at higher risk of COVID.
• Sustainability is a key component in the activities funded, with a need for continued and ongoing vaccination efforts for COVID-19 boosters, influenza vaccines, and other seasonal vaccines, as well as pandemic preparedness.
• Funding will be provided through a reimbursement model. Please discuss with the Cycle 4 Partnership Liaison to understand if the reimbursement model for funding will work for your organization.

• Fund efforts to increase equity of health information sharing across communities of focus (for example, funding for staffing of a call center to answer questions about eligibility and scheduling, funding for provision of translation services, etc.).
• Support free or subsidized transportation to access vaccination appointments.
• Fund resource activities to develop tool kits, checklists, and guides aimed at increasing vaccine education, awareness, and uptake.
• Support ongoing training of trusted messengers who address vaccine hesitancy, misinformation, and historical injustices.
• Fund efforts to establish the infrastructure or method to track the vaccination status of individuals living in congregate settings or receiving services through a community organization.
• Funding to address specific social determinants of health that influence populations most severely affected by COVID.
• Implementation of temporary, mobile, or other vaccination clinics during community events or in high-disparity communities.
• Coordination of in-home vaccinations.
• Support increased staffing of medical personnel who administer COVID-19 vaccines, with an emphasis on cultural competence and patient education.

• All applications must be received via email by 11:59pm on Friday April 19, 2024.
• A panel review will take place the week of April 22, 2024.
• Awards will be announced the week of April 29, 2024.
• Successful grant applicants will receive instructions for proceeding through the eVA supplier portal. This step will occur on a rolling basis and the timeframe is dependent on the number of awards.
