Children who are at high risk for severe tooth decay often experience barriers to accessing timely dental services. The BSB program eases barriers to care by providing preventive services, primarily in non-dental settings like doctors’ offices and medical clinics, where parents of young children are seeking primary care services.
One evidence-based preventive service is fluoride varnish. A small amount of flouride varnish is painted on the tooth's surface to help prevent decay. It is safe and effective to use on baby's teeth.
Healthy dental habits should begin early because tooth decay can develop in the first tooth!
