Get Your Free Flu Shot: Vaccination Event on October 5 in Mechanicsville

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – On Saturday, October 5, the Chickahominy Health District will partner with First Union Baptist Church in Mechanicsville to offer a seasonal flu vaccination event. The event will allow drivers, and their passengers, to remain in their cars to receive the vaccine. It will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will take place at 6231 Pole Green Road in Mechanicsville. This event aims to provide the 2024-2025 seasonal flu vaccine, Fluarix, for those ages 6 months to 64 years of age.

  • No insurance or proof of residency required.
  • Please wear a short sleeve shirt.
  • A parent or guardian (18 years or older) must be present for minor consent.
  • Those ages 65 years and older should receive the high dose flu shot, which will not be available at this event.

“Getting a seasonal flu shot is the best and easiest way to protect yourself and others from the flu,” said Chickahominy Health District Director Tom Franck, MPH, MD. “While it’s never too late to vaccinate, September and October are often the best months for most people to get vaccinated each year.”
