Piedmont Health District, Piedmont Senior Resources Partner for Fall Vaccination Event
BUCKINGHAM, Va. – On Wednesday, October 2, the Piedmont Health District and Piedmont Senior Resources (PSR) will partner to offer a free flu vaccination event in Buckingham County. The event will be open to the public from 2pm to 6pm and located at the Buckingham Community Center, located at 16268 N. James Madison Highway in Dillwyn, VA. This event aims to provide accessible and convenient vaccination services to the community.
“October is the time to get your annual flu shot to be able to keep up that protection throughout the entire flu season,” said Piedmont Health District Director Maria Almond, MPH, MD. “It’s also a great time to catch up on any other respiratory virus vaccines for which you are eligible, including the new 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine. We are grateful to partner with Piedmont Senior Resources and Farmville Family Pharmacy on this vaccination event through the USAging grant.”
The regular annual Influenza (flu) vaccine will be offered for free to anyone six months of age and older. Anyone 65 years and older should receive the high dose flu shot. Farmville Family Pharmacy will have a limited supply of high-dose flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccines available to anyone with insurance or paying out of pocket. Please remember to bring your insurance card, Medicare and/or Medicaid cards.
“PSR strives to maximize access to vaccination services for the seniors of this district. We are excited to partner with the Piedmont Health District and Farmville Family Pharmacy on this event,” said Piedmont Senior Resources CEO Justine Young. “We are fortunate to have the funding from USAging to support this.”
Walk-ins are welcomed at this event. Light refreshments and door prizes will be available. Overflow parking will be available to the public at the left side of the Community Center near the water tower. Adults 60 and older and individuals with disabilities will have a chance to fill out a survey onsite for a free $10 Food Lion gift card.
This event is part of a series of vaccination clinics hosted by PSR and Farmville Family Pharmacy. Other clinics will take place October 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southside Virginia YMCA and October 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wilcks Lake. Contact PSR at (434) 767-5588 for more information.
