Virginia Department of Health Rescinds Shellfish Harvesting Closure Order

(RICHMOND, Va.) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) announced today that a portion of Cockrell Creek in Northumberland County, previously closed to shellfish harvesting on January 12, 2024, due to a release of untreated sewage impacting water quality in the area, will reopen effective Thursday, February 15, 2024.
