Hampton and Peninsula Health Districts to Close Community Vaccination Center

(Newport News, Va.)— The Hampton & Peninsula Health Districts today announce that the Community Vaccination Center (CVC) located at the Sherwood Shopping Center, 3785 Warwick Blvd, Newport News ceases operations Saturday, February 26, 2022. As more people are fully vaccinated and vaccine is widely available, demand has decreased. VDH will shift the focus to its mobile program to provide the vaccines to people in areas where access is more challenging.  16,500 free shots have been administered at the Sherwood CVC since its opening.

“We were pleased to be a partner of the VDH Community Vaccination Center at Sherwood Shopping Center,” said Hampton & Peninsula Health Districts Director Dr. Natasha Dwamena. “Our COVID-19 vaccination efforts continue at the Victoria and J. Clyde Morris sites and through the use of regional mobile units and the Hampton & Peninsula Health Districts COVID-19 Outreach Strike Team.”

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics continue to operate at Hampton Health District, 3130 Victoria Blvd., Hampton and at Peninsula Health District, 416 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News. Appointments are available Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Appointments are encouraged. Call 757-594-8482 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted.

For community vaccination events check the Hampton & Peninsula Health Districts website, www.vdh.virginia.gov/hampton-peninsula/.

Unvaccinated Virginians remain at high risk of severe illness and hospitalization due to COVID-19. Those who have not received a booster are more at risk for severe illness than those who have been boosted. VDH recommends individuals who are 12 and older receive booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
