DOI Annual Immunization Attitudes and Beliefs Surveys

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) surveyed parents, adults, and healthcare providers about their thoughts and experiences with vaccines.

Virginians’ opinions are very important to the VDH and these results will be used to inform vaccine programs and support, based on what Virginians need most. These surveys were open through January 31, 2025.

Parent Immunization Survey

The majority of questions in the parent survey are focused on two types of children’s vaccines:   

  1. Vaccines routinely recommended for younger children, 8 years old or younger
  2. Vaccines routinely recommended for older children, 9 years old or older

 
There are also a limited number of questions on the following types of children’s vaccines:

  1. Flu vaccines for children  
  2. COVID-19 vaccines for children 
Adult Immunization Survey

The majority of questions in the adult survey are focused on two types of vaccines:   

  1. Vaccines routinely recommended for adults  
  2. Vaccines routinely recommended for pregnant adults

 
 There are also a limited number of questions on the following types of vaccines: 

  1. Flu vaccines for adults 
  2. RSV vaccines for adults  
  3. COVID-19 vaccines for adults 
Provider Immunization Survey

The majority of questions in the provider survey are focused on three types of vaccines:   

  1. Vaccines routinely recommended for adults 
  2. Vaccines routinely recommended for children 
  3. Vaccines routinely recommended for pregnant adults 

 
 There are also a limited number of questions on the following types of vaccines: 

  1. RSV vaccine 
  2. HPV vaccine  
  3. Flu vaccine 
  4. COVID-19 vaccine
