Notes:
Data are provisional and subject to change.
Threshold: The GI illness threshold was calculated using data from
2021 to 2023. For each year, VDH identified the consecutive 11 weeks
with the lowest mean percent of GI illness visits. The baseline was the
mean of the combined 33 weeks (11 weeks from each year). The threshold =
baseline + 2 standard deviations and is represented by the orange line.
The blue line represents the weekly percent of ED and Urgent Care
visits.
Outbreak Reporting Requirements: Certain facilities or programs, such
as residential or day programs, services or facilities licensed or
operated by any agency of the Commonwealth, schools, child-care centers,
and summer camps are required to report the presence or suspected
presence of an outbreak to the local health department per
12VAC5-90-90D. Other entities/businesses may voluntarily report
outbreaks. Individual cases of norovirus are not reportable.
Local health departments can provide guidance, including infection
prevention and control measures, to facilities experiencing outbreaks.
