The Eastern Shore Health District encompasses the Accomack County and Northampton County Health Departments. Together, these departments provide a vast array of public health services for Accomack and Northampton Counties. These two rural counties comprise the Eastern Shore of Virginia, the 70-mile long Virginia portion of the Delmarva Peninsula, which is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay. The area’s population is approximately 45,000 residents; an influx of summer tourists and migrant farm workers adds to the mix of clientele served by the district.
Employees
The District employs a staff of approximately 60 dedicated health care professionals and support personnel to carry out its duties and responsibilities.
