Last Updated: July 9, 2021

The March 8, 2021 COVID-19 Health and Disease Disparities by Race and Ethnicity in Virginia blog post presented disparities data through February. COVID-19 case, hospitalization, death and vaccination rates for each racial/ethnic group were compared to the White group rate in the form of a rate ratio. For example, if the Black group rate was 2 and the White group rate was 1, then the rate ratio would be 2 and would mean that the Black group rate was 2 times higher than that of the White group. Death rates are age-adjusted, while case, hospitalization and vaccination rates are not.
