Every Woman’s Life – Breast and Cervical Cancer Services

Every Woman’s Life – Breast and Cervical Cancer Services LogoEvery Woman’s Life (EWL) is a program of the Virginia Department of Health that helps uninsured, low-income women gain free access to life saving breast and cervical cancer screenings and services.

Eligible clients receive a clinical breast exam, mammogram, pelvic exam, Pap test, and any other related services required, all at no cost.  If a woman enrolled in EWL is diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer, she may be eligible for Medicaid to pay for treatment.

If you are a Virginia resident between the ages of 40-64 you may qualify. Women under 40 may be eligible if certain abnormal medical findings are present. Certain restrictions apply. For more information, call (757)382-8710 or email ChesapeakeEWL@vdh.virginia.gov

Here is what our clients have to say:

“I would like to thank the ‘Every Woman’s Life’ program.  When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I knew my chances of survival were very poor because I couldn’t afford the treatments.  This program not only gave me the opportunity, but also the will to survive!  After 2 ½ years, I am now living a cancer free life! I sincerely thank you for allowing me to continue being a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend.”

“I am so grateful for the assistance received through the EWL program.  I never had to worry about how or if I could afford the treatment I needed for breast cancer.”

“I never would have gone for the first mammogram without this program. Thank you so much for the help and encouragement during my breast imaging tests and biopsy.”
