Environmental Health Services

The Environmental Health programs protect public health by preventing or reducing exposure to toxic and infectious agents in the environment.  Environmental health specialists provide evaluation, advice, and enforcement in a variety of programs.

EH specialists protect water supplies and groundwater by permitting private wells and septic systems and investigating reports of sewage system failures.

Onsite Sewage and Water Programs

Our retail food program helps prevent food-borne illness outbreaks by permitting and inspecting restaurants and investigating reports of illness among patrons and employees.   Our milk specialists implement a permitting and inspection program to ensure the safety and quality of Grade A milk and milk products.

Food Protection

EH specialists prevent the spread of rabies by investigating animal bites coordinating proper follow-up to potential exposure to rabies.

Rabies Prevention

EH specialists help ensure safe living and recreational conditions by permitting and inspecting migrant labor camps, hotels, campgrounds, summer camps, day care centers and other establishments.
