What does the Department of Epidemiology do?
The Central Virginia Health District’s Department of Epidemiology conducts surveillance of reportable conditions, emerging infectious diseases and suspected outbreaks of illness. Staff provide recommendations and guidance on disease investigations and ensure actions are taken to prevent the spread of communicable disease in the Commonwealth. Coverage is maintained 24/7 to provide easy access to our Health Care colleagues and community partners.
