The Virginia Department of Health's Arthritis Program is pleased to share the Arthritis Awareness Month Toolkit for May, which includes a eight new social media messages. These resources address the connection between arthritis and staying active by providing joining Walk With Ease and self management programs.

  1. Join the VDH Arthritis Program for May Arthritis Awareness Month. The "Spring into Summer" Walking Initiative starts May 1! Visit the Walk With Ease Online Portal to register and start the six-week walking program at: https://bit.ly/3QiK4ci
  2. Get active! Studies show that physical activity can reduce pain, improve body function, improve mood, and increase quality of life for adults with arthritis. It also helps those with other health concerns. Find physical activity programs that work for you: https://bit.ly/4b5FfL7

5) The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is a six- week workshop for adults with at least one health condition, including arthritis.  It focuses on helping patient’s make decisions, solve problems, and plan activities Learn more:  https://bit.ly/4b5FfL7 

6) Managing arthritis is hard. Call the Arthritis Foundation’s toll-free Helpline to get the support you need from experts. Trained staff are standing by with resources that could help you. Call 1-800-283-7800 or email helpline@arthritis.org for solutions to your arthritis issues.  

7) Explore ways to incorporate Arthritis-Appropriate Evidence-Based Interventions that help relieve arthritis pain, increase physical activity, and promote well-being that you can build into your patient's treatment plan in this free virtual class for CMEs/ABIM MOCs/CEs.
