The Virginia Breastfeeding Advisory Committee (VA-BAC) works to increase the initiation and duration of breastfeeding and provides a statewide organizational vehicle for communication, collaboration, and coordination of breastfeeding services in the Commonwealth. The goal of the VA-BAC is to assemble appropriate organizations to impact Virginia’s breastfeeding rates, reveal current data, make breastfeeding a priority within the Commonwealth, and maintain the foundation of breastfeeding support included in Virginia’s Plan for Well-Being.

To improve the health of Virginia families by protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding throughout the Commonwealth.
Vision
The Virginia Breastfeeding Advisory Committee envisions breastfeeding as the cultural norm for infant and child feeding throughout the Commonwealth.
