Food Safety Education Month: Keeping Our Kitchens Safe

This September is Food Safety Education Month. It’s a great time to learn how to handle food safely to avoid getting sick.

Every year, many people get sick from eating food that isn’t prepared safely. These illnesses can be very serious. VDH has programs and services to help you learn about safe food practices. Our Food Safety Program gives tips on how to handle, store, and cook food properly. Additionally, we offer restaurant inspection reports so you can know more about the places where you eat. Our WIC program also provides nutrition resources for women, infants and children.

VDH wants everyone to remember the “Four Steps to Food Safety”: Clean, Separate, Cook, and Chill. By following these easy steps, you can lower the risk of getting sick from food and make sure everyone can enjoy their meals safely.

This Food Safety Education Month, let’s all do our part to keep our kitchens safe and protect our health!
